Frequently Asked Questions

  • Online therapy—also known as Telehealth—utilizes HIPPA-compliant real-time video calls to allow patients and clinicians to connect without being in the same physical location. As long as you have access to the internet, we are able to meet on your mobile phone or computer. Documentation standards are the same as in-person care.

Before our first session or consultation call, I will provide you with a unique Zoom link. If you have any questions or concerns about online psychotherapy please let me know, and I’ll be happy to address them.

  • With every session, I strive to earn your trust and facilitate an empathetic, warm, and non-judgmental atmosphere. Every individual is unique, so my therapeutic approach is never the same from patient to patient. And I constantly seek feedback, as I want to empower you to voice your needs and act as a collaborator in your treatment.

  • The first session—often called an intake—is all about getting to know you better. I’ll ask a lot of questions about your history and your goals so we can begin working on a treatment plan that suits your needs. I’ll also explain some of the hallmarks of psychotherapy, practice policies, and answer any questions or concerns you may have about working together.

  • Sessions are typically 50 minutes, though the initial session may last an hour. I also schedule 30-minute sessions as needed.

  • No problem! Please let me know at least 24 hours in advance, and we can find another time to meet.

I understand that unpredictable events can sometimes make 24-hours notice impossible; just communicate with me, and I will be accommodating.

  • Cost depends on your insurance plan. We will verify your benefits so you know and understand your insurance coverage and associated fees (like your copay, progress towards your deductible, etc.) before our first session. Insurance can be very complicated, so I never want you to be surprised.

If you’d like to pay directly, my cash-rate is $145 per session. However, I am willing to be flexible if unexpected insurance or financial changes arise. I do not want money to be a limitation for us to continue working together.

  • You are welcome to email me anytime. We will discuss texting between sessions if needed. I try to be as accessible to my patients as possible, especially if you are in crisis.

  • If you feel like a danger to yourself or someone else, please call or text 988 to utilize the National Suicide Help Line. You can also text START, HOME, or CONNECT to 741-741 for live support in the US and Canada. These services are free, confidential, and available 24/7.

If you are in the greater Detroit area, the Common Ground Emergency Line is 800-231-1127.

  • Treatment length depends on your specific needs and goals. We will start with meeting weekly and then adjust as needed from there.
